Sterling Hayden's life encompassed many important events and periods of the 20th century. A lifelong seaman he joined the Marine Corps and the OSS during World War 2, running smuggling operations to support anti-fascist partisans in Yugoslavia. He was also a movie star, famously appearing in The Godfather and in two Stanley Kubrick films - The Killing and Dr Strangelove.

Between 1945 and 1991, many Americans were hoodwinked into thinking that US military and monetary presence in Europe was somehow defending their own country from the ‘threat’ of Communism.  In reality, ideology rarely changes geopolitics.
The Soviet Union needed to insure that hostile fascist regimes could not re-build themselves in the European borderlands with the Soviet Union and likewise America took up the mantle from Britain, France and Imperial Germany in being the de-facto superpower in western and parts of central and northern Europe.

Massive military build up in Poland picks up speed as NATO signals “war-like” offensive action towards Russia

Yesterday The Duran reported on Poland’s acquisition of 70 AGM-158B JASSM-ER (extended range) missiles, giving the NATO member state first strike capability deep inside Russian territory.
Thousands of NATO troops, tanks, and equipment have been sent to Poland and NATO countries bordering Russia by Washington as a “defense against Russian aggression.”

Jimi Hendrix FBI File - Spy Culture

The FBI's file on James Marshall Hendrix aka Jimi Hendrix is a brief but entertaining example of the Bureau having too much time on their hands and not enough to do. After Hendrix was arrested in Toronto in 1969 'after a quantity of marijuana was found in his shaving kit' the Canadian authorities asked the FBI for help finding an excuse to deport him.
