President Trump, in a Monday press conference, suggested that China is ready to come to a trade deal, as Beijing has also signaled for a resolution to the ongoing and deepening dispute.
During the G7 press conference, US President Trump repeatedly complimented China’s President Xi Jinping and insisted China “want[s] to make a deal” because it “can’t lose three million jobs in a short period of time.”

Trump gives Huawei breathing room as trade talks with China resume after G20 (Video)

In a compromise move, Trump agreed to allow US companies to sell parts to Huawei, while not excluding the firm from the US’ blacklist.

After the talks reached an impasse, US President Donald Trump said that he would raise tariffs on $200 billion of imports from China from 10% to 25%. The increase will take effect on Friday, according to a special filing announced on Wednesday in the US government’s Federal Register.
