Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made clear today that he and his government opposes the ongoing ceasefire in Southern Syria, a deal negotiated between the United States and Russia, and which has continued to hold throughout the past week.
During his press conference following his meeting with President Macron, US President Trump spoke with hope and some pride about the ceasefire in southern Syria he agreed with Russian President Putin during their meeting on the margins of the G20 summit
Here is what President Trump said
Speaking beside French President Macron, Donald Trump praised the ceasefire in south-western Syria that was agreed upon between Russia, the US and Jordan.
Trump then said that several other ceasefires are in the works in other parts of Syria and implied that it is through Russia-US cooperation that one could someday witness a Syria where “no bullets are fired”.
This is the first time any high ranking politician in either Russia or the US has hinted that further ceasefires might be in store.
Israel’s Defence Minister, the well-known hardliner Avigdor Lieberman has told a giant lie about the situation in Syria. He stated that because Israel is not a signatory or guarantor of the ceasefire covering the Golan Heights which was recently agreed upon by Russia, the US and Jordan, Israel is free to act as it militarily pleases in parts of Syria covered by the ceasefire.

For very different reasons and in very different ways, the governments in Tehran and Tel Aviv have expressed their approval for the new ceasefire in south western Syria that was established between Russia, the United States and Jordan. The ceasefire came into effect on the 9th of July although details of enforcement are still being coordinated between the three guarantor states.
Just over 24 hours have passed since the ceasefire agreed and guaranteed by Russia the US and Jordan went into effect in south western Syria. RT spoke with locals in Quneitra Governorate who expressed a cautious optimism about the deal.
One man stated,
“We hope the truce will hold and peace will finally come to the whole of Syria. We here – in Khan Arnabah – are sitting together. It’s been a long time since we sat together like this.
But one cannot trust terrorists – they сan violate the truce every hour and every second”.
Following their temporary breakthrough yesterday, the Al-Qaeda led Jihadis in eastern Damascus where thrown back, allowing the Syrian government to claim this morning that all positions captured by the Jihadis in Damascus had been recaptured by the Syrian army.
The Syrian crisis approaches a decisive moment. According to a Syrian political expert Abbas Juma, the liberation of Aleppo, which was officially declared by the Syrian army on December 12, became a starting point for strengthening the Turkey-Russia-Iran cooperation, uniting their efforts to give a new impulse to the settlement of the Syrian crisis.
