A coalition of experts and politicians in the United Kingdom are warning that the meat industry will gain the murderous reputation of the tobacco industry if it doesn’t stop adding cancer-causing nitrites to meats like bacon and ham.
According to food scientist Professor Chris Elliott, and cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra, the coalition has reached a “consensus of scientific opinion” that nitrites, used to cure meat, produce carcinogens called nitrosamines when ingested.
Nitrites are the chemicals that give processed meats their pink color.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned 3 carcinogenic chemicals found in pizza boxes, popcorn bags, and other food packaging.
Environmental and public health groups have spoken out against the use of the chemicals for years over concerns of “chemical migration” from packaging to food, but it took 9 petitions to convince the FDA to ban the chemicals in question – perfluorinated compounds, or PFCs.

In 2013 and 2014, Sacramento residents were exposed to a carcinogenic chemical in their drinking water called aluminum chlorohydrate, a local news network has reports.
During those 2 years, Sacramento tested aluminum chlorohydrate (ACH) at its main water treatment plant and according to ABC10, red flags went up almost immediately, but the city didn’t warn locals or take action for a year.

The Center for Biological Diversity, the Center for Environmental Health, El Quinto Sol de America, Californians for Pesticide Reform, the Center for Food Safety and the Pesticide Action Network released a report earlier this week that claims that more than half of the glyphosate sprayed in California is applied to the state’s 8 most impoverished counties.
