Global Glyphosate Herbicide Market IS Driven by Genetically Modified Crops

Even Harvard has bowed to the Biotech Giants, stating that herbicide use is “ubiquitous” and may or may not increase with the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) crops. However, GM crops accounted for 45.2% of the global glyphosate market in 2012 and have been increasingly cultivated. Without GMOs, there would be a great decrease in the use of carcinogenic glyphosate.

IKEA may Nix Use of Environmentally-Destructive Styrofoam

Your future purchases from IKEA may come encased in packaging that could help feed your tomatoes or make the red in your roses a little bit deeper.

IKEA is tossing around the idea of phasing out polystyrene and replacing it with mycelium packaging made by Evocative Design, which is both compostable and biodegradable. Mycelium is made from the root structure of mushrooms, plus agricultural waste like corn husks and stalks.

France Says “Glyphosate Could Be Carcinogenic to Humans”

First the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) deemed glyphosate, the main component in herbicides such as Round Up, a ‘probable carcinogen.’ Then, California’s EPA announced that glyphosate-products would adopt a cancer label. Now, France’s Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) suggests that glyphosate is likely a category 2 carcinogen, meaning it is cancerous to human beings.

Huge: Monsanto Sues California to Keep Round Up Off Carcinogen List

Months after the World Health Organization’s cancer research arm declared the herbicide chemical glyphosate ‘probably carcinogenic,’ the state of California announced a move to place a cancer label on products containing the ingredient. That would include biotech giant Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide, Round Up. Outraged about the news, Monsanto is now suing California to keep Round Up off the state’s list of carcinogens.

Letter Urges EU Health Commissioner to STOP Re-Approval of Glyphosate Herbicide

Citing concerns that glyphosate has been proven to be an endocrine disruptor, along with other health and environmental issues, 67 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have written a letter to the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis, asking that glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Round Up weed killer, NOT be re-approved.

Win! 3 Harmful Chemicals Used in Food Packaging Banned by the FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned 3 carcinogenic chemicals found in pizza boxes, popcorn bags, and other food packaging.
Environmental and public health groups have spoken out against the use of the chemicals for years over concerns of “chemical migration” from packaging to food, but it took 9 petitions to convince the FDA to ban the chemicals in question – perfluorinated compounds, or PFCs.
