Tom McClintock Represents A Largely Rural, Blood Red District In Northern California-- But Trump's Stink Is Sticking To Him Already

California's 4th Congressional district is a sprawling, mostly empty area east of Sacramento. Most of the people live in a tiny corner of the district in the suburbs north of Sacramento, a triangle encompassed by Roseville, Placerville and Auburn. There are 10 counties but almost 90% of the voters live in suburban Placer and El Dorado counties. The largely rural district includes Yosemite Valley, most of Lake Tahoe and lots of national forests, national wildernesses, national parks and more senior citizens than most California districts.

Grassroots Democrats Desperately Need To Radicalize Their Centrist Congressional Representatives

I live in Los Feliz, which is part of an overwhelmingly blue congressional district in Los Angeles, CA-28. The PVI is D+20 and the GOP doesn't bother running candidates here. Obama beat Romney 187,441 (70.3%) to 70,757 (26.5%) and Hillary beat Trump by an even stronger margin-- 72.1% to 22.3%. You would think a district like this would have a bold progressive champion, someone like our neighbors, Ted Lieu, Xavier Becerra, or Judy Chu. But, our congressman, Adam Schiff, is a relatively conservative member of Congress for this blue a district.

WATCH: Southern California Deputy Threatens to “Create Something” to Arrest Man Filing Complaint Against Him

A Southern California sheriff’s deputy who threatened to arrest a man for attempting to file a complaint against him was simply having “a bad day,” his supervisors said.
San Bernardino County deputy Michael Bradbury did not have any actual grounds to arrest Duncan Hicks inside the  sheriff’s station in Victorville on January 20.
But he figured he would make that part up.  Or as he described it, “create something.”
That, of course, is nothing new. Cops create stories all the time to justify their arrests. Especially in contempt-of-cop situations as was the case here.

California Has A Leader Of The Resistance In Congress-- Meet Ted Lieu

In 2012 Henry Waxman had served nearly 4 decades in the House. A Republican billionaire, Bill Bloomfield, rebranded himself as an independent and ran a slash and burn campaign against Waxman, spending $7,567,080 of his own money (and another $400,000 from his wealthy friends) to pulverize the iconic progressive congressman.

FRESNO, Calif. (REPORT) — California can require Monsanto to label its popular weed-killer Roundup as a possible cancer threat despite an insistence from the chemical giant that it poses no risk to people, a judge tentatively ruled Friday.

Trump’s “wall” may get a lot longer if California secedes from the union. 600,000 signatures required [Map]

‘Calexit’ may be put to an actual vote if a proposal for California to break away from the USA has been submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office in the state capital.
The proposal may trigger a vote on whether the California should leave the union and become its own nation.
The group behind the Calexit proposal is called Yes California Independence Campaign.

With Obama Out In California Pushing Perez For DNC Chair, The State Party May Be Swinging Towards Ellison

Eric Bauman is the chairman of the L.A. County Democratic Party and the state Democratic Party's Vice Chairman. Late yesterday, he caused the California party go haywire by publicly requesting that Party Chair John Burton call a special meeting to consider a state party endorsement for DNC chairman. In the incredible well-crafted letter below, Bauman laid out all his reasons for backing Keith Ellison.
