The British government has approved the planting of a new experimental crop of genetically modified “super wheat” despite fears that it could contaminate other crops and despite opposition from about 30 environmental groups. [1]
The GM wheat, engineered to use sunlight more efficiently, will be tested by researchers in Hertfordshire. The crops are touted for boosting yields by as much as 20% to 40% in the greenhouse.
Rothamsted Research’s Head of Plant Biology and Crop Science, Dr. Malcolm Hawkesford, explains:

As Britain gears up to a general election which everyone assumes the Conservative Party will win by a landslide, the British media today is full of a story of a meeting between British Prime Minister Theresa May and EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, which is said to have gone disastrously badly, and which supposedly led to Juncker reporting to German Chancellor Merkel that May is “in another galaxy”.

Britain has taken North Korea’s lead in threatening a preemptive nuclear strike against an enemy state. The fact that no one in the British government can name which state that might be, is highly puzzling and equally worrying.
British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon who also thinks Vladimir Putin wants his political opponents to win the forthcoming British election, has said,

“In the most extreme circumstances we have made it very clear that you can’t rule out the use of nuclear weapons as a first strike”.

Britain has just experienced its first full day of electricity generation without coal since 1882.
What is interesting about this development is that the way in which Britain has moved away from coal for its electricity use is little discussed.  An article by the BBC published in 2013 however provides the explanation.

Nigel Farage has explained why he will not stand in the forthcoming and totally unexpected British General Election, set for the 8th of June. The former UK Independence Party leader who Donald Trump nicknamed ‘Mr. Brexit’ has said that the EU Parliament and not the British Parliament will be where the crucial Brexit negotiations take place.
He has a valid point, as the ultimate decision on the nature of Brexit will be between the EU and the UK. Internal British arguments will merely be the preamble to presenting a final proposal to be debated in Brussels.

After detailing his fears over a ‘hard Brexit’, Blair writes

After the Brexit vote in June of last year, many immediately called for a general election in order for Parliament to better reflect the mood of the country in respect of the largely unexpected victory for those favouring Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.
