Alphaville’s Jemima Kelly and Izabella Kaminska sat down with Yanis Varoufakis, former finance minister of Greece and current organiser of a trans-European group, DiEM25, of what he calls “radical Europeanists” — in favour of union, without deflation or austerity. Mr Varoufakis answers criticism from the left, pointing out that even if the euro or the EU were poorly conceived, leaving them now would have catastrophic consequences for the poor.

It is time to stop believing these infantile narratives the political and media establishment have crafted for us. Like the one in which they tell us they care deeply about the state of British political life, that they lie awake at night worrying about the threat posed by populism to our democratic institutions.
How do they persuade us of the depth of their concern? They express their horror at the murder of an MP, Jo Cox, and their outrage at the abuse of another, Anna Soubry.

Has anyone else noticed how over the past few years the corporate media has been dedicating ever more space to articles on how to deal with loneliness, anxiety and insomnia, as well as ways to immerse ourselves in escapist new technology?

LONDON (Analysis) — It is official. The end-of-March deadline for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union has come and gone. But Prime Minister Theresa May’s Conservative government has failed to reach a deal and has controversially postponed the economically and geopolitically seismic separation, known to the world as Brexit.

Despite all the talk of Brexit, EU Military Unification continues to roll ahead. Also the Ukraine elections have produced a front-runner straight off of the TV screen, literally – with comedian and actor Volodymyr Zelensky leading incumbent Petro Poroshenko going into the second round of voting.
