Detroit Public Schools to Shut Off All Drinking Water After Tests Show Elevated Lead, Copper Levels
DETROIT — Nearly 50,000 students headed back to school in Detroit, Michigan will be greeted by bottled water this year in lieu of traditional drinking fountains and water faucets, after tests showed elevated levels of lead and copper in the water.
National Park Bottled Water “Ban” Reversed By Trump Administration
The news is awash with fire and brimstone warnings about plastic pollution, both on land and at sea. To help battle back against the trillions of pieces of plastic littering the planet, the National Park Service put a policy in place in 2011 encouraging national parks to end the sale of bottled water. It wasn’t an outright ban, but 23 out of 417 national parks went on to restrict bottled water sales. In mid-August 2017, the Trump Administration reversed the Obama-era policy.

Doctors, researchers, and health officials have been telling the public to cut back on soda consumption for years, and it appears that people have been listening. Soda no longer tops the list of Americans’ favorite beverages; it has been replaced by bottled water.
Nestle Seeks More Groundwater to Expand Michigan Plant
The state of Michigan has given a preliminary go-ahead for food and beverage maker Nestle to nearly triple the amount of groundwater it will pump from beneath the state, to be bottled and sold at its Ice Mountain plant, approximately 120 miles from Flint. [1]
