On Tuesday, the House overwhelmingly approved new chemical safety rules intended to overhaul a law created 40 years ago governing toxic chemicals. The measure will for the first time subject some 64,000 chemicals to regulation.
The bill, which was passed 403 to 12, is expected to be passed by the Senate as soon as this week, and signed into law by President Obama.
New Jersey has one of the most restrictive medical marijuana programs in the nation, leaving no access to many who could be benefiting from the medicine. But now something is being done to change that – especially for women. Drawing inspiration from Whoopi Goldberg and California businesswoman Maya Elisabeth, Assemblyman Tim Eustace said he will be introducing legislation that would add women’s conditions to the approved list of ailments for medical marijuana.
In March of this year, California lawmakers voted to raise the legal age for buying and smoking cigarettes/tobacco products from 18 to 21, making California the second state, after Hawaii, to make such a move statewide.
In mid-March the Pennsylvania state House voted to legalize medical marijuana. If the Senate passes the bill and Gov. Tom Wolf signs it into law as he is expected to, it would make Pennsylvania the first state in the U.S. to allow medical marijuana as a treatment option for people with autism.

There’s a saying that “Everything’s bigger in Texas,” but apparently everything is slower, too. The state is preparing to issue licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries to legally sell products with low levels of THC, such as cannabis oil, but there’s a catch.
First, the medical marijuana types will be extremely limited, and only those with an intractable form of epilepsy will be allowed to partake of cannabis’ incredible healing properties.
The Rhode Island Senate Health and Human Services Committee is contemplating legislation that would allow post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to be treated with medical marijuana.
The bill, introduced by Democratic Sen. Stephen Archambault, would add PTSD to the list of debilitating medical conditions that qualify for medical marijuana treatment. The legislation would also allow patients who are eligible for hospice care to receive an expedited approved medical marijuana use application. [1]
