Beto O'Rourke

Not Even Republicans Can Stand Ted Cruz-- And Everyone Loves BETO

Digby penned the Blue America letter today-- for a candidate that all of us like a lot, Beto O'Rourke-- and we've known Beto longer than almost anyone outside of El Paso, having endorsed him in 2012 when he first ran for Congress and ousted a corrupt conservative incumbent. This time around, Beto had raised an historic $23,332,950 by June 30 (and appears to have brought in over $38 million since then)!

Slimy Conservatives Avoid Debates-- And When They Get Forced Into One... They ALWAYS Work To Limit Voter Access

Ted Cruz fancies himself a world champion debater. But somehow the political equivalent of a kindergarten toddler kicked his ass during the 2016 Republican primary season. Now he's up against a young congressman from El Paso, Beto O'Rourke and Beto beat him in every debate they've had so far-- hands down.

A Really Great Beto Ad

Tough As Texas [above] is a very memorable ad by Houston actor and filmmaker Richard Linklater, best known for directing hit films-- mostly about and set in Texas-- like Slacker, Boyhood, Fast Food Nation, Dazed and Confused as well as Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight. It was released this week by the FireTedCruz PAC and is unrelated to the Beto O'Rourke's campaign. But it will probably do Beto a lot of good nonetheless.

Will Mainers Remember In 2020? Perhaps Justice Kavanaugh Will Remind Then Now And Then

Ted Cruz never hesitated or thought twice about his vote for Brett Kavanaugh. He fund-raised off it. It's who he is, who he's always been and will always be. Yesterday, after the 50-48 vote roll call, Beto send a note to Texas voters saying, clearly: "Today, the Senate voted on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. If I were in the Senate, I would have voted no.

Phil Bredesen Probably Should Have Kept His Mouth Shut About Kavanaugh

Watch that lead disappear nowIn 2016, Priorities USA raised $192,065,768, most of it from mega-donors like Donald Sussman ($15 million), the Sabans (over $12 million), George Soros (over $10 million). James Simons (over ($10 million), Fred Eychaner ($9 million), the Pritzkers ($6 million), Daniel Abraham ($5 million)... They gave EMILY's List over $14 million, VoteVets over $3 million, Planned Parenthood 2 million and millions more to other PACs.

BETO!

"Beto" is enough. Or, better, BETO. No one has to say O'Rourke. I worked at Sire Records and it was very convenient, to say the least, to have artists with one word names, like Madonna, Enya, Seal, Morrissey. No one has to wonder who Bono is or Cher or Flea, Prince, Beck, Divine, Drake, Björk, Ringo, Adele, Sting, Oprah, Joni, Moby, Eminem.

Delete and Fast Forward, My Friend

Can you picture me spinning country music at a cowboy bar? Interviewing dozens of country music stars for Country Music Magazine? How about being on the Board of Directors of the Country Music Association? Yeah, and I was the west coast editor of Country Music Magazine too. Don't worry, I was never into the Nashville sound, just Outlaw music, the punk rock of country. That's how I met Willie... around 40 years ago. He had recently released Red Headed Stranger which I wore out on the turntables of the Cinch and wrote about as often as possible and for as many outlets as possible.
