The Democrats’ woes did not end there this week, as the Iowa Caucus Primary contest descended into chaos after the party’s dodgy digital election app failed to record votes, opening a back door for centerist, Pete Buttigieg, to come from behind and challenge front-runner Bernie Sanders.

Nevertheless, with no precincts reporting, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg declared victory. Bernie Sanders’ team believed the Vermont senator held around a five-point lead over Buttigieg in the popular vote. However, two days later the two are neck-and-neck, with ten pledged delegates each, both receiving over a quarter of the vote share.

The Democratic National Congress (DNC) has set up an extensive online communications team of trolls – and is launching it just in time for the Iowa caucus. CNN’s Donnie O’Sullivan spoke to a number of its agents (almost all of whom insisted on remaining anonymous) and reported that the new DNC project is working with government agencies like the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security as well as online media giants like Facebook, Twitter, Google and Reddit.
