Syria rejects Russian draft constitution

As was widely expected, the Syrian Arab Republic has rejected provisions of the Russian draft Constitution for Syria calling for autonomous communities in Syria, including for Kurdish regions.
According to Al Masdar news, Syrian envoy to the UN and Syrian representative to the Astana peace talks, Dr. Bashar Jaafari said,
“It’s completely unacceptable for a group of people to decide to create a statelet and call it federalism”.

AG:  The new draft constitution seems to have disappointed people on all sides. It’s not surprising that terrorist’s whose currency is blood have rejected it, but there are many provisions which seem to weaken the Syrian Arab Republic’s standing as a secular, multi-national, multi-religious, tolerant republic for all citizens. What is your reaction to such provisions?

Outgoing German FM Steinmeier: West was wrong about Assad

Outgoing German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has given an interview to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung in which he has slammed Western policy on Syria.
According to Steinmeier he always called for cooperation with President Assad’s government in Syria only to face rejection from the ‘regime change’ coalition in Washington and Paris.
