Le scandale de la pyramide de Nice

L'ancienne pyramide située non loin de la petite ville de Saint-André, au nord-est de Nice avait été réalisée avec la pose de pierres sèches. Elle mesurait entre 50 et 60 mètres de haut et environ 200 mètres de long. Elle fut transformée dans un premier temps en carrière de pierres à partir des années 1950, puis elle a été démolie en 1970 pour laisser place à un échangeur de l'autoroute A8. I admit to feeling a slight sense of sadness watching the images of flames soaring from the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral, but once it was reported that no one had been seriously hurt, my slight sense of sadness quickly gave way to a feeling of pleasure. My slight sadness was because part of me appreciates the considerable amount of quality craftsmanship that went into constructing the thing, and it saddens me to see some of that beautiful work destroyed. But when weighed against the symbolism of a major institution of oppression engulfed in fire, it’s hard not to feel happy.

Norway undertakes massive technologically advanced highway

Norway is famous for its incredible fjords. These formations of unspeakable beauty make the Norwegian coast one of the most photographed in the world.
They also make it one of the most difficult coasts to traverse. The present road and ferry system in place presently makes it possible to drive the 683-mile route from the southern Norwegian city of Kristiansand to the northern point of Trondheim in a rather lengthy 21 hours. This course involves no fewer than seven ferry crossings along the way.
