Under Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko, the Russian Embassy in the UK has shown that it is not only deeply connected to the world of social media, but also that the embassy staff take the almost daily Russophobic attacks from the mainstream media, government elites and random nutters with a brilliant sense of humour.

In their speeches MPs rightly focused on the humanitarian situation, especially in the eastern part of Aleppo. But the atrocities committed by the terrorists against the population of Western Aleppo, Damascus, and other Syrian cities were left out of the picture. Unfortunately, the British media keep silent on that. Furthermore, it is presented in a distorted way.

What Yakovenko is therefore in effect saying is that the US was planning in the summer to start a bombing campaign to overthrown the government of Syria in the knowledge that this would result by October in the victory of the Islamic State and its capture of Damascus.
