EGYPT: President Sisi allegedly threatens to break relations with Turkey

Reports have surfaced claiming that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for the Saudi led boycott of Qatar to be extended to Turkey. The remarks allegedly came during Sisi’s meeting last week with King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, a state which many consider to be a prototypical puppet regime of Saudi Arabia.

Turkey’s stance on Qatar

Of all of the non-Arab countries which publicly proclaimed neutrality over the current Qatar crisis, Turkey’s stated neutrality is the most difficult to swallow. Even Iran whose alleged steps towards semi-normalisation (and even that’s a stretch) with Qatar is a stated proximate cause of the Saudi led dispute, has taken a more neutral position, criticising the act rather than the states who enacted the total shutting off of Qatar from its neighbours and much of the wider Arab world.

Is Russia Egypt’s most important non-Arab ally?

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu are currently in Cairo meeting with their Egyptian counterparts Sameh Shoukry and Sedki Sobhy, respectively, in the so-called 2+2 format. This is the first such meeting since 2013.
During the talks, both sides spoke of how they can boost efforts to cooperate in the war against terrorism throughout the wider world including in both Egypt and Syria.

BREAKING: ISIS claims responsibility for slaughter of Egyptian Christians

After almost 24 hours passed in which no group claimed responsibility for the mass slaughter of over 28 Coptic Christians on a pilgrimage in Egypt, ISIS have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi claimed that the terrorists were trained in Libya and bombed their positions near Libya’s border with Egypt in retaliation for the attack.

Egypt bombs the Libyan failed state

Egypt has bombed terrorist training camps in eastern Libya in retribution for the terrorist massacre on Christian pilgrims travelling to the Anba Samuel near the city of Minya.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said that the terrorists who committed the atrocity were trained in Libya.
President Sisi vowed, “Egypt will not hesitate in striking any camps that harbour or train terrorist elements whether inside Egypt or outside Egypt”.
