2014 congressional races

One Week From Today-- Hawaii Picks Between A Proven Progressive And Two Proven Conservatives

Who fought against LGBT equality? Mark Takai and Donna Kim, the 2 conservatives in the race"Peace through strength!"-- Reagan’s bellicose slogan emulated by faux-progressive congressional candidate in Hawaii."Peace through strength" wasn't thought up by Reagan-- nothing was-- but by Emperor Hadrian around 100 years after the birth of our lord.

How Steve Israel Killed Red-To-Blue

Red to Blue looks like such a stinker for Steve Israel this cycle that he's started slipping in candidates in blue districts so his batting average won't look as atrocious on the morning of November 5th as anyone looking at his inept recruiting will surmise. A good red-to-blue program would have strong, progressive candidates running against Republicans in blue-leaning districts. Instead, Israel's personal agenda had him out-right protecting Republicans in many of these districts.

Dear Nancy Pelosi-- You're Letting Steve Israel Throw Away A Winnable Seat In Michigan

If there's one district that demonstrates the venality of Steve Israel and his utter unfitness to head the DCCC, it is the race in southwest Michigan between the hereditary multimillionaire chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Fred Upton, and Paul Clements, a professor at Western Michigan University, an advocate for middle class families and for environmental sanity. MI-06 has a PVI of R+1, one of only a dozen districts in the country with that rank. Five of those seats are held by Democrats and 7 are held by Republicans.

Is There One Single Best Member Of Congress? Have You Met Alan Grayson?

When Blue America weighs the pros and cons of endorsing a candidate for Congress, we often find ourselves measuring them by how similar he or she appears to be to Orlando Congressman Alan Grayson. Grayson is brilliant, courageous and, more than anyone else in the House, he defines progressivism. And you know what? One Congressman can matter.

Even If The Senate Dems Avoid A Wave, Pelosi Set The Fate Of The House Dems When She Reappointed Steve Israel

Yesterday's NY Post found some nicely dressed young people who don't get drunk or get arrested for violent crimes and who knew how to use iPhones and dubbed them the next generation of Republicans, "throwbacks-- spurning drugs, crime and disorder, being sexually responsible and making sound choices about education.

Northern San Diego County-- Will They Ever Have Good Representation In Congress?

Though many of the most salient questions about his corruption have never been addressed, Republican former-congressman/DWT star Duke Cunningham is out of prison. Apparently, we will never find out what happened to the $400,000 Thomas "Gus" Kontogiannis gave Cunningham to pay off George W. Bush for a pardon.

Edwin Edwards-- In Louisiana He's Not Just The Punchline To A Joke

Last February we looked at the possibility-- which seemed remote-- that former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards would run for Congress. And here we are, 5 months later, and he's in the middle of a free-for-all contesting the open seat-- incumbent Bill Cassidy is running against Mary Landrieu for Senate-- in LA-06 (a blatantly ethnically-cleansed Baton Rouge plus Thibodaux).
