by NoahRegular DWT readers know that I love, really love, to point out instances of irony when they show up in Republican World, which is about every hour of every day. On Tuesday, Devin Nunes, Gym Shower Jordan and the rest of the Republikooks on the House Intelligence Committee endlessly recited crackpot conspiracies about various Democrats, the 2016 election, and even the impeachment hearings themselves; conspiracy theories that can be easily traced right back to their hero Vladimir Putin ("a real leader" says the president's lawyer). That got my irony radar going. They embraced their own disloyalty to this country while proceeding to attack a real patriot's loyalty when the Republicans not only went so far as to attack the loyalty of Lt. Colonel Vindman. They even attacked Vindman for wearing his uniforrn, the uniform that he wears proudly, to the hearing even though doing so follows regulations. The Republican members on the committee and their beloved dear leader Trump attacked Vindman so much that Lt. Colonel Vindman and his family are now receiving so many ominous threats from Republicans that the United States Army has made preparations to possibly move them onto an army base for their own protection. This is the kind of country that Republicans want. They have no decency at last. This is the kind of country Republicans want to live in. They want Chile circa 1972. Is it any surprise that their leader loves the leader of North Korea and those like him?
