by Noah"How Do You Milk Sheep?" sounds like any politician's handbook if there ever was one. Chances are such a book, if it exists, has been translated into more languages than the Bible or Traitor Don's Hollywood Access tape. And, since I mentioned Traitor Don...During the 2016 campaign, Trump cruised the Midwestern states with a typical divide and conquer approach. Sure, he had the Putin cyber-propaganda machine working for him but he also played the usual Republican "free stuff" card and appealed to the fears, resentments and visceral racism (latent and otherwise) of the whitest of white America, railing against socialism, government healthcare, welfare handouts, immigrants, taxes, Muslims, you name it. It was especially amazing to watch the head-nodders at Trump rallies as he mentioned things like cheaper foreign products entering U.S. domestic markets. The sheep bought it, hook, line, and sinker. The sheep were milked for their votes and they voted for Trump so strongly that he's now in the White House endangering all of our futures and the futures of American generations to come. One of the campaign promises Traitor Don made to his marks was that he would impose tariffs to "level the playing field" for American farmers. The head-nodders nodded. They cheered. Then, earlier this year, Trump delivered. Understanding nothing about economics, he put the tariffs in effect. He lacked the education or sophistication to realize that other countries would immediately retaliate and he would start a trade war. Overnight, Trump-voting farmers who had fallen for the con realized that countries that had bought their corn and soybeans for decades would now be buying corn and soybeans elsewhere. Immediately, Mexico did a deal with Brazil for Brazilian grown corn and naive American farmers saw the markets for their soybeans begin to dry up.Once again, the very existence of small family farms in our country is threatened. Family farmers, who had been so gung-ho for a con artist now saw an imminent future of their farms, their equipment, and even their houses being sold at auction for a nickel on the dollar. Brilliant. Ask them how they feel about Trump now and all you hear is the crickets in the fields.Trump's solution? Put the American family farmer on welfare. He will hand out $12 Billion to American farmers, not out of any compassion or economic sense, but in hopes that they will still buy into whatever brainwashing bullshit he serves them.In essence, to solve a horrifically nightmarish problem he created, Trump now plans to buy back the votes of Midwestern farmers and do it by borrowing the $12 Billion from China and other countries that he has started a trade war with. Now, we have a situation where instead of our farmers making profits for their work by selling soybeans to China, they and the rest of America will be paying interest on a $12 Billion loan from China with their taxpayer dollars. Genius! Socialism for people who always thought they hated the very idea of socialism! Irony, much? And, oh the hypocrisy!
