Tomorrow some of the handful of Republicans who see through Trump and understand the dangers of his authoritarian nature and understand the threat he is to everything America stands for, are running the ad above-- the very Republican-oriented ad above-- on Fox News "to remind our fellow Americans, Republicans and conservatives that we are a nation of immigrants, and stronger for it." Ronald Reagan, just a few short years ago, once the penultimate symbol of Republicanism, means little more to today's brainwashed GOP base than Abe Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower or Teddy Roosevelt (i.e., close to nothing). The party of Trump has no room for other idols besides Señor Trumpanzee and his wretched family-- other than, perhaps, and temporarily, Scott Pruitt, Betsy DeVos, Stephen Miller...The ad was made by the Becoming American Initiative. The link will take you to their pro-immigration website-- the opposite of the GOP's growing xenophobic obsession. "Our nation is a nation of immigrants... More than any other country, our strength comes from our own immigrant heritage and our capacity to welcome those from other lands," is their motto, something uttered by Reagan in 1981. The GOP has changed a lot-- mostly in the last year and a half-- since then. Linda Chavez and her group think these numbers below are going to impress people who voted for and still fully support the con man and fascist in the White House? They won't.This morning, the Washington Post reported that "The number of people receiving visas to move permanently to the United States is on pace to drop 12 percent in President Trump’s first two years in office." Among the Muslim country's on the travel ban list-- Yemen, Syria, Iran, Libya and Somalia, many of which are being bombed by American jets-- the number is down by not 12% but by 81%. Meanwhile... today's New York Daily News, Trumpanzee's edgy home-town newspaper:Anyway... happy 4th of July tomorrow. Stay safe. And, if you've never heard Charlie Chaplin's "Great Dictator Speech," take a look. Remind you of anyone we know? Justin Trudeau? Angela Merkel? Emmanuel Macron? Theresa May? Obama? A Clinton? Bernie? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? No? Who then? Who? What are we going to do about it. Keep your eye on the ball-- November.
