For years now, I have been attacking the insanity of the US military and especially the way the US military industrial complex absolutely abuses US taxpayer money for the US's continuing illegal wars across the planet, the insane purchasing of military hardware that in some cases is a waste of money (the F35 as a prime example), and of course to fund the 150+ military bases of the US empire world wide.... To me, the military budget of the United States is absolutely one of the greatest wastes of money in the history of all mankind, and presently only pushes the entire planet to the brink of a full scale world war to maintain US worldwide hegemony. But just today, I found articles that show that the US House of Representatives have just passed the latest US military "budget" and get this... It is for $717 BILLION dollars for fiscal year 2019! Here is one of those articles, from the Antiwar website at www.antiwar.com, that covers this insanity:Houses Passes $717 Billion Military Spending Bill2019 spending bill has to be reconciled with Senate versionJason Ditz Posted on May 24, 2018Categories NewsTags ndaa, PentagonIn a 351-66 vote, the House of Representatives has passed their version of the 2019 military spending bill, the National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA intends to spend $717 billion in the next fiscal year on the military, wars, and nuclear arms. This is another substantial increase in military spending, broadly supported within both parties. Only 7 Republicans voted against the bill, while Democrats were a bit more split on the matter. Either way, amendments intended to limit nuclear weapons spending or the like were roundly defeated. One amendment that did manage to make its way into the NDAA was from Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Barbara Lee (D-CA), which demands the Department of Defense investigate if US allies in Yemen were torturing detainees. The UN had already confirmed that UAE forces were responsible for acts of torture in Yemen, and the investigation is intended to find out if US troops in the country have, in violation of US law, been participating in Emirati torture sessions. The NDAA bill passed today still has to be reconciled with the Senate version, which was passed by committee in a closed session. Once the two are reconciled, there will be final votes, though there appears so far to be little momentum to resist the ever growing expenses.NTS Notes: I can guarantee that in the bowels of the US Pentagram..err.. Pentagon, there are a lot of champagne corks popping away as the criminals in charge celebrate this insanity....Lets be honest here.. The US at present spends more on its military that the next 15-20 nations combined.... That money absolutely does not make the US more 'secure' and with the continuing budgeting for the US military to continue its illegal wars across the planet, it does not make the world safer, period.OK, I have looked at that $717 BILLION amount, and honestly even 1/2 of that money could easily finance and rebuild every piece of failing infrastructure in the US itself and leave enough money left over to FULLY finance both a national health care system and give free college education to every US citizen that so desires to have continuing education after high school... But instead that money is used to kill people worldwide and continue the failing US empire....I hope that the American people do indeed someday wake the fuck up and see the travesty here... Money better spent to help the US economy and save the nation from economic collapse is spent instead on continuing US hegemony across the planet... And the reality is that this waste of money only pushes the US even closer to a new world war than ever before...More to comeNTS
