Egypt’s foreign ministry denied in a statement on Sunday the presence of Egyptian military troops in Syria, reiterating its commitment to non-intervention in internal affairs of other countries.“These allegations exist only in the imagination of those who promote them,” foreign ministry’s statement read, stressing on Egypt’s commitment to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.
Some Arab newspapers reported about Egyptian military presence in Syria," the statement published on the Foreign Ministry’s Facebook page read. "Egypt is committed to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries."Egyptian military has been accused of sending troops to the aid of the embattled Syrian government. Many Arab Gulf states support opposition forces in Syria. A Russian government spokesman said earlier this month he could not confirm reports that Egyptian soldiers were present in Syria.
