NATO Special Operations Headquarters Commander visits Estonia
The NATO Special Operations Headquarters Special Operations Component Command Core element recently completed a two week deployment to Parnu, Estonia. The unit was operating as the Special Operations Component Command for the Joint Task Force led by the NATO Rapid Deployment Corps – Italy, which is currently deployed to the Joint Warfare Centre in Norway.
On April 27, the Commander of the NATO Special Operations Headquarters, Lieutenant-General Brad Webb and the Estonian Chief of Defence, Lieutenant-General Riho Terras joined a number of senior Estonian defence officials for an orientation of the SOCC-Core and its participation in Exercise TRIDENT JAGUAR.
Allied Joint Special Operations are an integral component to NATO’s Readiness Action Plan, and this Special Operations deployment to Estonia is part of a broader series of Allied exercises and training events intended to reassure Baltic Allies.
“Allied Joint Special Operations can deliver cogent strategic and operational effects across the range of military operations in support of SACEUR and the Joint Force Commanders, and our role is to ensure we do so in a synchronized and coherent manner in a NATO context,” said Lieutenant General Brad Webb, Commander of the NATO Special Operations Headquarters.
Lieutenant General Webb also expressed his appreciation for the Estonian hosts and spent time with a number of other Special Operations Commanders and staff from other Baltic nations, including Estonian Special Operations Forces, in an effort to better understand their capabilities and focus areas.
