DSACEUR Visits Moldovan 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, Cites 20-Year Partnership

CHISINAU, Moldova: Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) General Sir Adrian Bradshaw observed a training demonstration and spoke with the commanders and soldiers of the Moldovan 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade on Thursday, 23 April, while on an official visit to the country. General Bradshaw also met with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, as well as the Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministers and the Chief of General Staff.
General Bradshaw highlighted the enduring partnership between NATO and Moldova during his visit and maintained that it has been beneficial to both parties.
“NATO has benefited from the Republic of Moldova’s regional expertise and from the support of Moldovan soldiers who serve alongside NATO troops during exercises and operations like KFOR,” said General Bradshaw. “In turn, the Alliance has assisted the Republic of Moldova with capacity building and military education and training. Based on what I have seen over the last few days, our strong partnership is continuing to pay dividends,” he said.
The partnership between NATO and the Republic of Moldova spans a period of over 20 years. Relations began in 1992 and in 1994 Moldova joined the Partnership for Peace programme. Moldova currently has over 40 troops serving on the KFOR mission in Kosovo, including an infantry platoon and an explosive ordinance disposal team. Moldovan troops are also currently taking part in Exercise WIND SPRING, a multinational training event currently underway in Romania that includes British, America, and Romanian troops.
