NATO, U.S. welcome Canada’s decision on sending military instructors to Ukraine
KYIV: .NATO and the United States have praised the decision of the Canadian government to send 200 military instructors to train the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine.
Supreme Allied Commander of NATO forces in Europe and Commander of U.S. European Command, General Philip M. Breedlove said this, according to an Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels.
“I applaud Canada’s announcement of its decision to join the training of Ukrainian National Guard personnel,” reads the statement on behalf of the American general in Facebook.
Breedlove said that he did not believe in a military solution to the conflict in Ukraine, but such assistance from Canada would help strengthen the county’s internal defense capabilities.
As reported, Canada would send about 200 military instructors of its army for conducting exercises and increasing the defense capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard.
