NATO’s Asian War: Georgian Troops Spend Another Year In Afghanistan

New Year in Afghanistan

Georgian military servicemen participating in ISAF mission celebrated New Year in Afghanistan. Batumi Separate Light Infantry and the 31st Battalions of GAF met New Year in base “Leatherneck”.
Command of the “Task Force Belleau wood” and commanders of coalition countries attended the solemn reception together with Georgian military servicemen at the Staff of 31st Battalion.
Georgian soldiers congratulated invited guests on New Year with concert. Folk ensemble manned by Georgian military performed Georgian folk songs and dances. At the solemn ceremony 18 military servicemen won in the sport and intellectual contests were awarded by valuable gifts and certificates. Commander of the 31st Battalion LTC Giorgi Meshveliani awarded 30 military servicemen of the unit with service medals “Devoted for Homeland” for their merit in strengthening defence capability of the country.
