I was speaking to a congressional campaign manager yesterday who had just finished a poll of which issues were resonating in his rural district. Some of the issues were what you'd expect: Medicare expansion and Social Security being the top two. But two I didn't see coming-- at least so high up on the list: the trade deficit and the budget deficit.
A few days ago I read something about Wisconsin cranberry farmers facing a very bad year because of Trump's trade war. Retaliation is a bitch. Maine is the top cranberry producer in the U.S.There are 20 counties across the state that grow cranberries. Wood, Jackson, Monroe and Juneau are the top producers. All of them are losing jobs now. They all voted for Señor Job Producer in 2016:
Something like 9,000 of barrels of bourbon were destroyed in a Kentucky warehouse crash Friday. I wonder if insurance will cover the damages. Maybe the company was lucky... since bourbon is one of the U.S.

I just got back from the hospital, where I go every 4 months for a little tune-up chemo-light infusion. Not fun, but... well, worth it to stay alive and functioning. And I love seeing my doctor and the nurses-- especially Cindy, the nurse who takes my blood samples before the infusion. The first thing she does is flush my port with saline. And at the end of the blood drawing she cleans the port with Heperin.
Trump makes a big deal about keeping his campaign promises. And, unfortunately, the ones he wants to keep, he does try to keep. Sometimes the courts and occasionally, even Congress, keeps him from keeping the worst of them. His excuse for torpedoing the bipartisan DACA fix was that it flew in the face of one of his ugly outbursts of bigotry during the campaign.

Trump seems to not be enjoying the reaction to his twitter war against Mika Brzezinski, which underlays his irrational and primitive fear of women snd especially their menstrual cycles.
