Tuesday, the Denver Post reported that far right extremist, xenophobe and front-runner for the Republican nomination for Colorado governor, Tom Tancredo was dropping out of the race-- after just three months-- because he can't raise any money. As of Dec. 31 he had collected less than $75,000 in campaign contributions.

Tennessee's 14th senatorial district includes all or part of 5 cities: Ardmore, Fayetteville, Lewisburg, Murfreesboro, Shelbyville and all or part of Bedford, Lincoln, Marshall, Moore and Rutherford counties. The median household income is $45,900, somewhat higher than the state's median ($42,500). It's part of Scott DesJarlais' congressional district, which has a PVI of R+20.

Schumer has recruited 2 of the worst members of the House to run for the two most winnable 2018 Senate seats-- Kyrsten Sinema (AZ), actually the very worst Democrat in the House, and Jacky Rosen (NV), a pathetic non-entity. On the other hand, Schumer has worked hard to successfully recruit the most electable Democrat in Tennessee for a seat few thought the Democrats had any chance to win: popular and well-respected former governor, Phil Bredesen.

Last year, Trump beat Hillary 60.7% to 34.7% in Tennessee, a very solid win. Hillary won just 3 counties of the state's 95. She won Shelby Co., the state's most populous by a wide margin-- 206,640 (62.3%) to 114,948 (34.6%) and nearby Haywood Co.-- 3,704 (54.3%) to 3,020 (44.2%). Hillary also kicked Trump's ass in Tennessee's second most populous county, Davidson, which includes Nashville.
