Michigan woman Lori Cichewicz is suing her doctor for “wrongful conception,” claiming compensation for the stress caused by an unplanned pregnancy.
Cichewicz expected to undergo a procedure to permanently shut off her ability to get pregnant in 2008 after her doctor told her that if she ever were to get pregnant, she would have a child with Down syndrome.

The Cornucopia Institute, a public interest group of thousands of organic farmers and consumers, and two of its members have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, alleging unqualified individuals have been put in place to determine what is “organic.”

Two South Kona coffee growers have reportedly filed a lawsuit against Monsanto, claiming that the company lied about the possibility for glyphosate, the main ingredient in Round Up, to cause cancer.

A dissenting branch of the Native American Church claims the US government illegally seized its sacramental cannabis. They are now fighting back with leaders like James “Flaming Eagle” Mooney and Joy Graves, who brought a case to a US district court on January 15th.
Graves claims she mailed 5 ounces of cannabis to a church member in Ohio on December 10th, but it never arrived. The Postal Service tracking website reported that the package had been seized by law enforcement.

The city of Seattle now adds its name to 5 other major US cities that are suing Monsanto over PCBs. Perhaps a tide of similar legal action will finally break Monsanto for good. [1]
Activists may have a tough time shutting down Monsanto for poisoning the planet with GM foods and engaging in the corrupt chemical whirl-go-round that seems to be ruining every conceivable aspect of the natural world, but Monsanto’s karma is catching up, and quick.
