Young Sports Star Rejects College For Pros (and No One Minds)

During last week's the Major League Baseball Draft, high school phenom Hunter Greene was selected second overall by the Cincinnati Reds. His fastball has been clocked at 102 miles per hour and, at age 17, he has already been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. As a result of entering the draft, Greene will not be playing baseball in any capacity at the collegiate level. Good.

The Oakland Raiders’ impending move to Las Vegas has reignited debate about the legality of betting on sports. It is ridiculous that most states ban betting schemes. Someone who buys stock in General Motors is “betting” that the company will sell lots of cars, just as someone who puts money on the super bowl is betting that their team will win the game.

Black lives are routinely extinguished by police in the streets without recourse, in the courts without pause, and in the prisons without hesitation.
