Tonight's Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick features the amazingly talented English singer-songwriter and composer Imogen Heap. It was actually last Tuesday but Saturday night at BFP is a nice place to kick back and enjoy her music. The song is Fine and Mellow and besides her great voice, there's some seriously great horn in this clip with the likes of Ben Webster, Lester Young, Gerry Mulligan and Coleman Hawkins working the saxophone. Hugh Masekela- “Khawuleza”
It's been quite a while since we visited Hugh Masekela on the Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick. The song is Khawuleza which is a song that comes from the townships and reservations of South Africa. The children ‎would shout from the streets as they saw police cars coming to raid their homes. ‎They would yell "Khawuleza Mama!" which simply means "Hurry Mama! Please, please don't let them ‎catch you!"‎ A great song performed by one of my all-time favorites, Mr. Hugh Masekela...enjoy...DJPJ.

Blue Oyster Cult- “Don't Fear the Reaper”
The Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick goes back to 1976 for a song by the American rock band Blue Öyster Cult from their album Agents of Fortune. The song is their classic hit Don't Fear the Reaper. It was written and sung by the band's lead guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser. While the early live-performance vids by BOC are great, I really like this rockin' performance from 2002. Enjoy...DJPJ.
