The Establishment Consensus

Contrary to the accusations of laziness and apathy, therefore, the decision not to vote of those who profess anger towards the system represents true democracy: exercising the right to vote for 'none of the above' because, in frank terms, 'none of the above' stand for them; representing instead the ruling and corporate classes - the 'establishment consensus': the continuation and entrenchment of the status quo.

Cut benefits? Yes, let’s start with our £85bn corporate welfare handout

If taxpayers are to fund corporations, why shouldn’t they demand that those businesses observe certain conditions of basic fairness? The publicly funded train operators should pay their staff living wages, provide decent pensions and sick pay. And all recipients of public money should be banned from using elaborate structures to avoid paying tax.

Capitalism, the working class and the fight against police violence

The irony is hard to miss. The United States government, which wages war all over the world on the phony pretext of defending “democracy” and “human rights,” increasingly relies on the methods of martial law in response to any indication of social unrest within its borders.

The Violence That Created Baltimore

The vast majority of "food" we consume results from unspeakable animal cruelty, environmental devastation, and the use of exploited human labor. This "food" contains toxins and chemicals and pesticides and GMOs that rain violence down upon ourselves and all living things and the system that controls access to such "food" perpetrates the daily -- hourly -- brutality of poverty. Every single bite you take contains the not-so-hidden ingredient of violence.

How NATO Kills Africans in the Club Med

The six-month humanitarian bombing of Libya engineered to prevent a highly hypothetical "atrocity crime" ended up "liberating" at least 10 times more people from their lives than the previous skirmishes between Col. Gaddafi's troops and weaponized "rebels", most of them hardcore Islamist militias, now free to wreak jihadi havoc from eastern Libya to northern Syria.

Marxist and Catholic Traditions Reject the Inadequacy of Liberalism

Though historically important in the evolution of justice theory, liberalism has evidenced limitations in providing a clear foundation for a just and equitable society. Rights set forth in liberal theory are related to each other by their common foundation in the freedom of the individual person to choose desired ends within the confines of designated policies and laws. However, to restrict these fundamental rights, that is, the right of the person not to be impeded in the pursuit of his or her happiness, is to attack individual liberty—the foundation of liberalism.

Iceland To Take Back The Power To Create Money

Iceland’s government is considering a revolutionary monetary proposal – removing the power of commercial banks to create money and handing it to the central bank. The proposal, which would be a turnaround in the history of modern finance, was part of a report written by a lawmaker from the ruling centrist Progress Party, Frosti Sigurjonsson, entitled “A better monetary system for Iceland”.
