McCain and WoodsUnless you live in Arizona, you probably never heard of Grant Woods, who was Attorney General there from 1991 'til 1999. A mainstream conservative, he won his first race with 80% of the vote. Earlier, he had served as McCain's chief of staff when McCain was a congressman in the 1980s. He remained very close with McCain for the decades that followed.
Years of targeting by right-wing media have made Nancy Pelosi one of the most unpopular politicians in America. Democrats like her though-- and especially her own constituents, Her congressional district had the biggest primary turnout of any congressional district in California... by far. In some cases turnout was double that of other districts! And she won in a landslide. But the Republican attacks actually have penetrated one group: Democratic politicians-- both congressional incumbents and especially candidates.
Pelosi is one of the least liked politicians in America-- two caveats though: 1- her own constituents love her and showed it at the polls 2 weeks ago when 172,399 voters turned out-- more than any other district in California-- and gave her an overwhelming win against 6 challengers and 2- she's far more popular than Mitch McConnell, the most disliked elected official in America.McConnell's seat isn't up this November.

All the Democrats voted yes-- and so did 4 Republicans:
