Colorado Officials Blocked Denver from Allowing Marijuana in Bars, Restaurants
Just days after Denver voters narrowly approved Initiative 300, which was intended to allow pot use in city bars and restaurants, a new rule was published November 18 by the Liquor Enforcement Division of the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) slamming the door on the plan. [1]

The rule prohibits marijuana consumption at any business that holds a liquor license starting January 1, 2017.

Fast-food chains have been pulling out all the stops to get “health nuts” to frequent their establishments. McDonald’s came out with a kale salad (that ended up having more fat and calories than a Big Mac), Chick-Fil-A added an organic beverage and a “superfood” salad to its menu, and many chains have been switching to antibiotic-free chicken and cutting preservatives from their offerings.
U.K. Government Orders Restaurants to Cut Size of Desserts
U.K. Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has ordered restaurants, pubs, and cafes to make their food and drink healthier by cutting sugar content, and to shrink the size of desserts. [1]
It’s all part of Britain’s plan to combat obesity.
Hunt met with more than 100 major food chains, including McDonald’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Starbucks, and Pizza Express, and warned them that each restaurant’s performance would be monitored and that a public campaign would name any violators.

FDA Hopes Restaurants, Companies Will Agree to Reduce Salt in Food
While some areas, such as New York City, are working to make sure that individuals have the full picture of what they’re putting in their mouths (by placing salt warning icons next to food menu items), efforts are being made on a national level to actually lower sodium content in food.
NYC Salt Labeling Rule Becomes Enforceable Starting June 6
Chain restaurants in New York City which fail to put symbols on their menus beside dishes containing excessive amounts of salt can be fined $200, and those that repeatedly fail to comply with the mandate could lose their permits.
