In what world is Herr Trumpf vulgar but Ted Cruz is not?I don't know which Republican presidential hopeful is the most homophobic, although it certainly isn't Herr Trumpf. Cruz is a notorious homophobe and his second biggest donors, the Wilks brothers ($15,000,000), are almost exclusively motivated in their political giving with their bizarre and unbalanced obsession with homosexuality.
Cruz has replaced Herr Trumpf as the Iowa front runner now. He's ahead of Trumpf among likely GOP caucus goers 40 to 31%, with Rubio way down at 12% for third place and no one else even close. Dr. Ben (6%) has got to be wondering when he drops out and poor Jeb is tied at 2% with Huckabee and Rand Paul.So.... guess what happened on yesterday's gasbag shows. Actually, Jake Tapper had a worthwhile discussion on CNN's State of the Union with Rand Paul.
The new Gallup poll that asks how satisfied respondents are with Congress found that just 17% of Democrats and 15% of Republicans approved the job Congress is doing. It's been a long slide since 2001 when a narrow majority of Americans actually thought Congress was doing a decent job.
Needless to say, all the Republicans have rushed to exploit the ISIS attacks in Paris. Lindsey Graham rounded up McCain and cranked up their old war mantra on Monday morning TV. Rubio, of course, was doing intense fundraising off the corpses of the victims. Huckabee and Cruz was invoking their xenophobia against the refugees fleeing the ISIS terrorists.
Almost a year ago I told my political friends that Ted Cruz would be the GOP presidential nominee. They all thought I was joking-- or insane. Oh, look, even Rich Lowry agrees now.
I'm almost tempted to feel sorry for the Establishment wing of the Republican Party-- what I used to always refer to as the Greed and Selfishness wing-- and the cruel comeuppance they're getting from the Hatred and Bigotry wing. They should never have made the deal with the devil to bring that crap into their party. After Nixon's Southern Strategy there really was no other possible outcome.
In the new CBS/NYTimes poll, Texas neo-fascist Ted Cruz is way down at 4%, tied for 6th place with also-rans Rand Paul, John Kassich and Mike Huckabee. Meanwhile the newest poll in Iowa has Cruz in 4th place with 6.2%, behind Carson (30.6%), Trump (18.6%), Rubio (10.0%), and Jeb (6.8%).

So polling still isn't indicating the anti-Trump rout the Republican Establishment is working towards, at least not yet. The latest polling, from CBS has Trump and Carson tied in Iowa and way ahead of the senators and governors the Establishment would like to run.
