Sweden's Crime Prevention Council estimates there were 7,200 rapes reported to the police in 2017, an increase of 10% over the past year. The increase of rape reports in Sweden’s capital Stockholm rose by 29% last year and, when compared with 1996, the increase is a staggering 400%. The Northumbria police are tracking down social media users who made "offensive" and potentially "criminal posts" about the race and religion of grooming gangs following the Operation Shelter scandal, in which young white British girls were groomed, sexually abused, and trafficked by mostly Muslim men of Pakistani or Bangladeshi descent.
