“If you don’t give me what I want, I will kill myelf!”, says the kid screaming at his parents over not having the keys to the car. He wants to go out and party with his friends, and his parents are not having it. It is Thursday, a school night, and he is to be home studying. He is sixteen, old enough to drive, but not old enough to be called an adult, much less treated like one.
“I am serious!! I am going to do it!!”, says the kid, holding a knife at his own throat in fury. “Give me the keys!!”
“No,” says Dad. Not yelled, just calmly stated.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away due to complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer on Friday. She was one of the most visible justices during her 27 years on the Court, regarded with adulation by progressives, vilification by conservatives, and yet, this woman must be acknowledged as an excellent example of America’s freedom in action. As a Jewish woman, her social background and politics was different than that of a Christian conservative, and the ability she had to interpret the Constitution through that kind of lens is historically of extreme importance.

The Democratic National Convention continued for a fourth night last night, as the party coronates former vice president Joe Biden as its nomination for November. Three American journalists decided to do what many of their colleagues have done since the outbreak of the proxy war on the Syrian government: they traveled to the war-torn country to report what’s happening from the ground. But unlike the reporters who have made a name for themselves traipsing through some of the oldest cities in the world recently put under occupation by a miscellany of jihadist groups, these three journalists reported from areas under the control of the government.
