It took more than a decade, but the federal government finally released nearly 200 photos depicting prisoner abuse by American soldiers during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The photos were released Friday in response to an ACLU lawsuit filed in 2004 when George W. Bush was still president.
The detention officers used what is referred to as an Aikido restraint, which could be a number of restraints considering Aikido, like most martial arts, includes various techniques.
Initially, guards said that Gynnya McMillen died in her sleep because she was found in her cell at the Lincoln Village Juvenile Detention Center in Elizabethtown, KY on January 11th.
McMillen was sent to the detention center after a domestic disturbance that involved her at her mother’s home on January 10th. McMillen was charged with misdemeanor assault.
An award-winning Florida sheriff’s deputy was suspended for treating nearly a dozen inmates inhumanely while transporting them in a van last year.
However, it was just over two years ago that St. Lucie County sheriff’s deputy Johnny Hubbard received a departmental award along with several other deputies, describing them as “extremely professional and extraordinary individuals” who deserve to be “recognized for their day-to-day dedication to their duties.”
