New York Times Publishes ACLU’s Factual Errors, Will They Publish Our Correction?

The New York Times usually gets it right, but the Newspaper of Record published an op-ed piece titled “How to Prosecute Abusive Prosecutors” containing a glaring factual error.
While we support the ACLU’s efforts and mission at PINAC News, we wish they would have returned our calls and emails this past week as we did our research.

Chicago Cop Will Face No Charges Despite Video Showing Him Shoot Man in Back

A Chicago police officer who killed a fleeing man by shooting him in the back will not face criminal charges, Cook County State Attorney Anita Alvarez announced today.
The decision was announced more than a year after the October 2014 shooting death of 25-year-old Ronald Johnson; a year in which Chicago officials fought hard not to release the dash cam video of the incident.

Federal Park Ranger Terrorizes Couple for Overstaying Visit to Massachusetts Seashore

A taser-wielding, power-tripping national park ranger terrorized a couple for overstaying their visit to the Massachusetts seashore by twenty minutes, tasering the man, then twisting his wife’s wrist backwards until he was convinced she was not armed, all in the name of officer safety.
But it was nothing but officer insanity as we can see in the 18-minute body cam footage from Federal Park Ranger Steve Glaser, showing a complete overreaction to what he even said was nothing put a parking infraction.

Award-Winning Florida Officer Leaves Strip Club, Hits Stripper’s Car, Flees Scene of Accident

A Florida cop had a little too much fun at a local strip club when he crashed into one of the employee’s car and quickly left the scene of the accident.
Sgt. Bruce Connors, 36, who is a cop in Kissimmee, Florida left the scene after striking the car of a bartender at Lido Cabaret strip club. According to the Orlando Sentinel, he was taken off duty on Oct.30 and set on paid administrative leave. The naughty cop makes $66,000 a year.

Florida Fire Captain Pleads Guilty to Embezzling Nearly $200,000 from Abandoned Children Non-Profit

 
A disgraced Fire captain in Tampa pleaded guilty to embezzling almost $200,000 from Hope’s Children Home – a charity his father began for abandoned kids.
Alfred Schaffer, 50, pleaded guilty to federal charges and is facing up to 20 years in the slammer.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny, Schaffer was fired from his current position on Monday.

Washington Cop Charged with Raping Fellow Officer; Police Union President Investigated for Tipping Him Off About Warrant

Sadly it is often that police officers around the country are arrested for rape on and off duty.
But it is not often that officers are arrested for raping fellow officers.
However, that was the case this week in Washington when Spokane Police Sergeant Gordon Ennis was arrested on second degree rape charges for raping a female officer in his department.
