Texas Cop With History of Complaints Suspended After Body Cam Captures Him Kneeing Suspect in Groin

An aggressive Texas cop with a history of complaints and a reputation for not caring about those complaints was placed on paid leave after he was caught on camera kneeing a handcuffed man in the groin.
San Juan police officer Juan Pablo Galindo was captured by his colleague’s body cam on the evening of December 14.
According to the Texas news site, Advance News Journal:

Chicago Police Admit They “Accidentally” Shot and Killed Woman While Trying to Shoot and Kill Teen for “Lunging”

Adding to tensions that have reached a boiling point in the Windy City, Chicago police admitted they “accidentally” shot and killed a 55-year-old woman while trying to kill a 19-year-old man early Saturday morning.
But police expressed their “deepest condolences” to the family of Bettie Jones, explaining they had to kill Quintonio LeGrier because he had come charging at them with a baseball bat, making them fear for their lives.
And she just happened to be in the way.

Phoenix Cop Shoots Man Dead After Being Struck in Hand by Rock

A man who began throwing rocks at Phoenix police officers was shot dead when one of the rocks struck an officer’s hand Saturday morning.
After all, they say, the rock bounced off a tree and could have struck the officer’s head.
The man started throwing rocks at a police cruiser after it pulled out of a precinct in West Phoenix, according to the Arizona Republic. 
The cop called for backup as the man threw another rock at the precinct, shattering a window.

NYPD “Karate Cop” Arrested After Shooting Mother of His Child

A New York City police sergeant nicknamed the “Karate Cop” was arrested this week after he was accused of shooting the mother of his child in the neck during a domestic spat.
Jose Guerrero, 49, was charge with reckless endangerment and second-degree assault. He was released on bail and is scheduled for a following court hearing in January.
Guerrero’s arrest took place on Wednesday evening after the 39-year-old woman was admitted to a Yonkers emergency room at St. John’s hospital.

Chicago Police Kill Middle-Aged Woman While Responding to Call About Teenage Man, Whom They Also Killed

Responding to a domestic violence call about about a teenage man threatening to hurt his father with a baseball bat, Chicago police arrived and shot a middle-aged woman dead after she opened the door to let them inside.
Then they shot the teenager dead.
Neither one of them was armed with a gun.
Chicago police offered scarce details other than telling the media they arrived at the building and “were confronted by a combative individual, resulting in an officer firing shots, fatally wounding two individiuals.”

Florida Deputy Beats Handcuffed Man; Forced to Resign After Fellow Deputy Blows Whistle

A Florida deputy resigned last month after another deputy came forward, accusing him of using excessive force on a handcuffed suspect sitting in the back of a patrol car.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office this week released the video from inside the car that led to an internal affairs investigation.
Sergeant Timothy Bammert resigned in the midst of the investigation rather than wait for its outcome.
The video shows the handcuffed suspect sitting in the back of the car when he starts kicking the side of the door, yelling at deputies to “leave my old lady alone.”

Colorado Will Require Police Applicants to Undergo Psychological Evaluations to Crack Down on Rogue Cops

After it was revealed that Colorado has some of the weakest laws in the nation in weeding out bad cops, the state’s police certification board implemented new standards that would make it mandatory for all potential police officers to receive psychological and physical evaluations before they get hired.
The Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training also implemented new rules that would prevent rogue cops from simply transferring to a new department after losing their job over misconduct.

Smartphone App Allows Citizens to Depend on Each Other for Emergency Services Instead of Police

We live in a world where we are forced to pay for services that are unreliable, corrupt and brutal. We are taught from a young age that you pick up the phone and dial 911 at the first sign of trouble.
But sadly, we increasingly see the responders to our pleas for help showing up and making matters worse.
I’ve been there a number of times myself. I see something bad that is  too much for me to handle. I pull out my phone to dial 911 and then stop, thinking police will just make matters worse, something we all should think about before he make that call.

Pennsylvania Cop Charged with Fabricating Ambush on Herself, the Ninth Cop This Year to Fabricate Such a Story (Updated)

Another police officer is accused of fabricating a story about being attacked in the  line of duty, making it a total of seven cops who fabricated such stories this year.
And that does not include the two dimwit cops from Connecticut who were off-duty when they shot up one of their personal cars, later claiming somebody else shot it up.
