Open Letter to Pennsylvania Police Chief Refusing to Release Name of Cop Who Struck Pedestrians

A few days ago, the chief of police in my Pennsylvania town of Bethlehem chose to cover up the identity of an off-duty officer involved in a car accident.

This is how it was explained in the local media:

New Video Surfaces Showing Utah Cop May Have Shot Handcuffed Man in Back Three Times From Inches Away

It was just over a year ago when a Utah cop confronted a man going door to door, asking people to shovel their snow in exchange for a few dollars.
The man, James Barker, became annoyed at the officer, and told him to leave him alone, that he was only trying to do his job.
But Salt Lake City police officer Matthew Taylor insisted on knowing his name, telling Barker that he was responding to a complaint of a “suspicious” man walking the neighborhood.
Taylor’s body cam footage shows that Barker grew agitated and lifted the shovel as if to swing it at him.

KOMO-TV made a slew of public records request of dash cam video that were suspected of excessive force by Seattle police. But instead of following public records law, the Seattle Police Department used a frivolous statute to deny a records request of the videos in question.

But they never said anything about him pointing it at the cops nor if the cops even noticed he had the gun until after they killed him.
