Oregon Police Pounce on Autistic Homeless Man for Trying to Explain Federal Disability Law to Them (Updated)

Oregon police are facing scrutiny on social and news media after a video posted to Facebook last week showed five Ashland police officers piling on top of a homeless autistic man because he had the nerve to inform them they were violating federal law by harassing and ticketing his friend for having a disability service dog in public.
Ashland police charged the man who goes by “Redwood” with disturbing the peace, interfering with an officer and resisting arrest, which are charges commonly used by police in contempt of cop cases across the country.

North Miami Cop Shoots Man With Hands Up, Begging Not to be Shot (Updated)

North Miami police shot Charles Kinsey, even though he had his hands up and was begging them not to shoot him.
But police were not taking any chances because Kinsey’s companion, a 24-year-old autistic man, was holding a toy truck, which they feared could be a gun.
It was a tense 15 minutes as Kinsey lay on his back, his hands in the air, yelling at the officers that the toy truck was not a gun. Telling them that the man holding the toy truck was developmentally disabled. And informing them that he was the man’s caretaker.

It took two months but authorities arrested two police officers Tuesday who were caught on video beating a suspect after he had surrendered.

South Carolina Deputy Pulls Gun on Man Recording Him

Fearing for his life, a South Carolina sheriff’s deputy pulled a gun on a man who walked up to him with a phone while recording, asking him for his name and badge number.
The man with the camera, who goes by Trey Citizen on YouTube, had both hands on his phone, which is evident in the reflection of the window.
He also had the sense to hold the phone horizontally, so he obviously put some thought into this.
But the deputy, no doubt on edge after recent police slayings, pulled out his gun and pointed it at him.

Arizona Police Shoot and Kill Man, Then Turn on Body Cams

Arizona police officers were wearing body cameras when they shot and killed a man last week, claiming they were in fear for their lives.
However, they did not turn the cameras on until after they shot and killed Donald S. Myers.
Flagstaff police explained on its Facebook page that Corporal Michael Lavelle forgot to turn his camera on “due to the intensity of the moment.”
Nevertheless, the body camera he was wearing captures a 30-second buffer of footage before the camera was activated just in case the officers fails to turn it on.

Texas Cop Assaults Woman Claiming it was for Her Protection

A Texas woman who stepped out of her apartment to record police trying to enter her neighbor’s apartment ended up assaulted by an officer who claimed he was only doing it for her safety.
Rosenberg police officer Adam Vasquez told her since she was already a victim of assault, he had the right to assault her again.
But the woman, Sydney Tawater, insisted she was not a victim of assault. At least not until she was assaulted by the Texas cop.
She insists she was only trying to record the officers, which is her First Amendment right.

Florida Sheriff’s Deputies Seize Man’s Phone While Assisting CPS in Warrantless Removal of Family’s Children

A Florida sheriff’s deputy seized a man’s phone without a warrant after arriving with Department of Children and Families workers to seize a woman’s children, who were also apparently seized without a warrant.
Shortly after they arrived at her Fort Myers home on July 11, the deputy allegedly punched Jasmine Aguilera’s friend, Waldemar Suarez, then spun her around so she wouldn’t witness her children being taken by the state.
