Albuquerque Cop Trial Results in Mistrial in Shooting Death of Homeless Man

Three jurors voted to convict two Albuquerque cops on second-degree murder charges today in the shooting death of a mentally ill homeless man.
But nine jurors voted to acquit the cops, resulting in a mistrial.
Now it’s up to Special Prosecutor Randi McGinn to determine whether to retry Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez for the shooting death of James Boyd in 2014.
Judge Alisa Hadfield declared a mistrial Tuesday after three days of deliberations when it became evident that none of the jurors were going to change their minds.

Utah Police Drop Charges Against Teen Accused of Drugging Cop After Lab Reports Find No Drugs in Drink (Updated)

Two months after Utah police dragged his name through the mud, accusing the teen of drugging an officer while preparing his food at Subway, police are now saying there were no drugs in the officer’s drink.
So the Layton police officer apparently drugged himself.
Not that they have even released his name.
But they were sure to release Tanis Lloyd Ukena’s name as well as his mugshot after arresting the 18-year-old man on August 8 in a story that quickly went viral, charging him with a felony, accusing him of lacing the cop’s drink with marijuana and methamphetamine.

California Cops Shoot Man Barking at them like a Dog (updated with video)

California cops shot a man with a knife Sunday who was barking at them while standing in traffic and yelling the word “bulldog.”
“His behavior was outside of the norm,” Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.
The Fresno police officer shot him twice in the abdomen, but the man survived and is recovering at a local hospital after undergoing surgery.
Police say there is body cam footage as well as footage from a traffic camera of the shooting, but videos have not yet been released.

Michigan Man Facing 40 Years in Prison for Angry Facebook Rant Against Cops

A Michigan man faces 40 years in prison for the alleged rants he posted on Facebook encouraging friends to “kill all white cops,” apparently becoming frustrated after watching several police videos spread across social and news media showing white cops disproportionately killing unarmed black men.
“It was a tirade of hate and violence specifically directed toward police, encouraging people to kill police,” Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said during a press conference.

Three California Cops Shot, Two Dead; Suspect Still at Large

A California man with mental issues who told his father that he wanted to shoot cops killed two cops and wounded a third before disappearing in Palm Springs Saturday afternoon.
The shooting took place at 5 p.m. ET and the killer was still at large at 7:50 p.m.
Palm Springs police said they were responding to a case of “domestic abuse” when the man opened fire on them.
The man who called police, Frank Serrano, lives across the street from where the shooting took place.

Award-Winning Pennsylvania Cop Admits to Masturbating in Dick’s Parking Lot to Stay Awake

An award-winning Pennsylvania cop said he was struggling to stay awake on the drive home from work, so he would pull out his penis and masturbate while driving, which kept him from nodding off.
But Pennsylvania state police charged him with two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure after two women called them to complain about him on two separate occasions, saying he would pull up his car next to their car to ensure they saw him masturbating.
One woman said he was fondling his penis while “waving it around.”

Mississippi Cop who Left Toddler in Patrol Car to Die Lost Custody Last Year for Doing Same Thing

The Mississippi cop who left her 3-year-old daughter in her patrol car for four hours while visiting another cop at his home last week, resulting in the toddler’s death, was temporarily stripped of custody last year after leaving her daughter in the car in a previous incident.
But Long Beach police officer Cassie Barker persuaded the state Department of Human Services to return her child, only for her to do it again 18 months later.

However, that was enough to make deputy Tai Plunkett fear for his life where he kept the gun pointed at Sheppard’s head with trembling hands in a surreal scene seemingly out of a movie.
