Before you pop open a bottle of California Merlot, there is something you should know: trace amounts of glyphosate, the primary toxic chemical found in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, have been found in 100% of California wines tested by the national GMO awareness group, Moms Against Monsanto.
The news comes on the heels of a report finding 14 brands of beers tested positive for the likely carcinogen in Germany.

The take-away from eating takeout with less sodium should be a no-brainer, but many people are unaware that one serving of General Tsao’s chicken can contain up to 2,325 mg of sodium – 25 mg more than the amount FDA recommends eating in an entire day. Perhaps this is why the city of Philadelphia decided to work with its Chinese food restaurants to reduce that amount by 10-15%.
SAME café, short for So All May Eat, started 10 years ago in Denver, Colorado with a simple premise. The food served was to be mostly organic and locally-sourced, and if you couldn’t pay for it – well that didn’t matter so much. The café was more interested in presenting healthful culinary delights to all people (regardless of their ability to pay) than making tons of money. SAME, is in fact, the first non-profit restaurant in the city, and there are few like it across the country.
If you’ve ever been to South Philadelphia, farming probably doesn’t leap into your mind. It’s kind of a rough place. But in a small warehouse, that side of the city is teeming with life, thanks to vertical farming.

Roundup is being found everywhere! Sadly, this includes in mother’s breast milk and in fetal tissue. Now, over 3000 boxes of ‘organic’ panty liners have been pulled from stores in France and Canada after Monsanto’s favorite herbicide was found in the cotton-based Organyc brand.
Monsanto isn’t cheering the news that U.S. organic food sales have approached $37 billion annually, up 12% from just a year ago, but the trend shows no sign of slowing. This double-digit growth is expected well into the future, suggests a Nutrition Business Journal report. [1]
Like probably many of you, I have friends who have no clue why eating organic is a big deal. Prepare to show this piece to them the next time they laugh at you for spending a little extra on foods that aren’t genetically modified and covered in pesticides.
