Governor John Kasich (R-OH) is term-limited and cannot seek re-election. Former Senator and current Attorney General Mike DeWine, current Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, current Lt. Governor Mary Taylor and multimillionaire backbencher Rep. Jim Renacci are all competing in a fiery Republican primary. Kasich is backing his Lt. Governor but virtually every poll shows her in third place behind DeWine and Husted.

You probably never heard of Brook Park, Ohio unless you live in the Cleveland area. It's a Cleveland suburb with less than 20,000 people. Or maybe you remember it from last year because the mayor, Tom Coyne-- who was in office from 1982 through 2001 and again from 2013 'til... well Tuesday-- left the Democratic Party to pledge his allegiance to Señor Trumpanzee during the election campaign.

There was one dark side to the election results Tuesday night: Ohio. Issue 2 would have required state agencies to not pay more for prescription drugs than the federal Department of Veterans Affairs. Big Pharma put together a massive $60 million confuse-the-voters media campaign... that worked.

Big Pharma has spent tens of millions of dollars-- nearly $60 million as of last week-- on a contest in Ohio that hasn't gotten a lot of national attention. Issue 2 on today's ballot would have required state agencies to pay no more than what the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs pays for prescription drugs. The drug companies were freaking out, not just because of Ohio but because Ohio would open a floodgate nationally of citizens who don't want to continue being ripped off by drug companies.

Ohio filed a lawsuit Friday against the developer of the interstate Rover Pipeline, claiming it has discharged millions of gallons of drilling fluids into wetlands during the pipeline’s construction after numerous warnings and citations from regulators.
Filing on behalf of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office sued Dallas, Texas-based Rover Pipeline LLC in the Stark County Court of Common Pleas.

John Kasich likes to paint himself as the most bipartisan politician in America. That's camouflage. He happily signed one of the most egregious gerrymandering bills in the country, cutting Ohio up, which voted for Obama both times he's ran and elected progressive Democrat Sherrod Brown both times he ran. Because Kasich did, 50/50 swing state Ohio now has 12 Republicans in Congress and 4 Democrats instead of 8 and 8.

A police officer in Clark County, Ohio opened fire on a journalist Monday night after he mistook the reporter’s camera equipment for a weapon.
The incident occurred around 10 pm after Andy Grimm, a photographer for the New Carlisle News who was out photographing a thunderstorm — due to pass the small town about 20 miles north of Dayton — began setting up his camera and tripod at a local traffic stop.
