What's worse? This or supporting another dynast?  The New Dems, even more so that the withered and impotent Blue Dogs, are the heart of the Republican wing of the Democratic Party. They are Wall Street and corporate-America sell outs and have more in common with Eisenhower-era Republicans than they do with progressive Democrats.

In 2018, after trying and failing for years, the DCCC had what it wanted and celebrated as a great triumph. They successfully recruited the single worst Democrat-- as in most conservative and most GOP/NRA-friendly-- in the New Jersey legislature, Jeff Van Drew, to run for Congress.

The DCCC had been trying to recruit Jeff Van Drew for years. He was the perfect candidate for them-- a South Jersey machine-backed hack in the state legislature who tended to vote with the GOP more frequently than any of his colleagues.

If you're a regular DWT reader, the Washington Post and NY Times pieces from earlier today should come as no surprise: Blue Dog and fake-Democrat Jefferson Van Drew is jumping the fence and becoming a Republican instead of just voting like one.

Last month we asked when Jeff Van Drew would leave the Democratic Party and join the GOP. Looks like that idea is spreading in New Jersey.

2020 is going to be a bad year for congressional Republicans. The Democrats may lose a few seats in very red districts where "accidental" freshmen have been disappointing Democratic voters by running up horrible records as Blue Dogs. I would imagine waste-of-seat-holders like Joe Cunningham (SC), Anthony Brindisi (NY), Kendra Horn (Oklahoma)...

I keep getting complaints that our early June episode of The Freshmen on New Jersey Blue Dog Jefferson Van Drew, didn't do him justice and was far from complete. He is, after all, the worst Democrat in Congress and deserves a more thorough look.
