Grayson's amendment to stop funding the over-militarization of local police forces never made it to the Senate. The House Republican leaders-- Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy-- teamed up with the House Democratic leaders-- Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn (along with Wasserman Schultz, Israel and Crowley)-- to urge their caucuses to vote against it.
Ferguson, Gaza, and Luhansk bleed all the time these days and the United States does nothing very useful for any of them. Not in out “national interest.” Simpler and easier to blame the victims. Can’t waste our precious resources.

In the last week, we've been looking at how the Democratic Establishment and the Republican Establishment banded together to defeat Alan Grayson's amendment against militarization of local police departments.
Militarization of local police forces began in earnest in 1991 when George H.W. Bush decided it was a good way to reward GOP Military Industrial Complex donors while fighting the so-called War on Drugs. Since then more than $5 billion worth of military equipment has been given to local police forces around the country.
