Johnson & Johnson (J&J) and its subsidiary DePuy has been ordered by a federal jury in Dallas to pay more than $1 billion to settle allegations that the company hid flaws in its Pinnacle hip implants that had to be surgically removed. [1]

No one likes to think about a hacker sitting in a basement somewhere downloading your personal information. The new term for this activity is “medjacking,” or medical device hijacking.
Since the death of noted entertainer Joan Rivers almost a year ago, the routine use of endoscopes has come under increased scrutiny. Now, evidence has surfaced that contaminated endoscopes are behind many hospital outbreaks of antibiotic-resistant ‘superbugs,’ and the FDA has known about it for years and done nothing. Some of these outbreaks have killed dozens and made hundreds of others ill. (1)
Federal health experts are taking another look at Essure, a permanent birth control device for woman that is associated with numerous serious side effects.
The Food and Drug Administration will be asked to consider further clinical studies on Essure, and will be asked to make changes to the device’s warning label.
