Baltimore County Cop Appears to be Wearing Body Cam in Korryn Gaines Standoff Despite Police Saying There Were None

Korryn Gaines swore to police they would have to take her out in a body bag during a traffic stop back in March.
But Baltimore County police managed to pull her out of her car that day without killing her, throwing her in jail for two days on several misdemeanors after they pulled her over for driving without a proper license plate.
In place of a license place, she had a piece of cardboard that read: “Any government official who compromises this pursuit to happiness and right to travel, will be held criminally responsible and fined, as this is a natural right to freedom.”

Maryland Cops Pepper Spray Students Within Seconds in Horrible Display of Escalation

Responding to a false complaint of a fight inside a house party, University of Maryland campus police were politely told there was no fight inside.
But they ended up pepper spraying and arresting students anyway.
All in a matter of seconds of knocking on the door.
It was such a raw example of what not to do as an officer, the lead officer ended up suspended without pay for 80 hours after the department’s police chief reviewed body cam footage of the May 21, 2016 incident, which was released Monday.

Colony Collapse Disorder and Neonicotinoid Insecticides

Last month Maryland’s Senate passed a partial ban on neonicotinoids, also known as neonics, a relatively new type of systemic pesticide which has been used to control sap-feeding insects, such as aphids and grubs.  Three different types of neonicotinoids were previously banned in the EU in 2013 because of the risk they posed to bees after large-scale field trials in Hungary, Germany and the UK have demonstrated a link between neonicotinoids and Colony Collapse Disorder.

Baltimore Cop Found Not Guilty in Freddie Gray Trial

One of six Baltimore cops charged in connection to the Freddie Gray death was found not guilty today.
Edward Nero was one of three police officers who chased Gray on bicycles on April 12, 2015, placing him unrestrained in a police van where the 25-year-old man ended up with spinal injuries, leading to his death a week later.
He was facing four misdemeanor charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of misconduct in office. The 30-year-old police officer opted for a bench trial over a jury trial.

Democrats In Name Only

It was pretty awesome that Democratic primary voters in PA-07 (the suburbs south and southwest of Philly) so thoroughly rejected the DCCC-recruited candidate Tuesday and voted massively for Elizabeth Warren-wing local progressive Mary Ellen Balchunis. Local Delaware County Democrats were as pissed off about DCCC heavy-handed interference as Democrats are all over the country. And in PA-07 they expressed that by voting 51,525 (73.8%) for Balchunis to 18,276 (26.2%) for the DCCC's wealthy handpicked outsider, Bill Golderer.

Will Bernie Have An Impact Even If American Voters Elect A Status Quo Candidate?

Yesterday Bernie drew 43.6% at the polls in Pennsylvania and John Fetterman, the Senate candidate who had endorsed him and was running on his platform, drew a mere 19.3% of the vote (better than most polling had been predicting but still less than half of Bernie's voters). In Maryland Bernie took just 33.3% of the vote, while Donna Edwards only got 38.8%. Although Donna and Bernie were running on a similar progressive package of issues and values, she had endorsed Hillary.
