Marco Rubio realized he wasn't going to be the Republican presidential nominee when he started seeing the polls from his home state, polls that showed him losing badly to Trumpy the Clown. And on election day, Florida did indeed give Rubio a big thumbs down-- or maybe the middle finger. Trump won all 99 delegates with 1,077,221 votes (45.7%). Rubio only won one county in the whole state, his own, Miami-Dade.
President Obama started asking congressional Republicans for emergency Zika funding in March. BY May they hadn't done a damn thing. We wrote at the time that instead of cooperation, what the House Republican leaders had given Obama instead of cooperation was more deranged right-wing intransigence and more of their crazy, dangerous anomie.
Over the weekend, Alan Grayson warned that a right-wing PAC-- who he refers to as "some pollution-spewing, book-burning group of flat-earth neo-con-artists... greed-mongering, minority-oppressing, torture-cheering, fact-loathing illiterate ignoramuses"-- has started getting serious about defeating him.
I don't expect we'll see many ads as blatantly anti-Trump from Republican incumbents as the one above from Mark Kirk's campaign. I suppose he's gambling that any Trump die-hards who are so outraged by it that they won't vote for him, will be more than made up for by Illinois' independents. I don't think Trump has responded yet. Maybe no one has mentioned it to him or even told him Mark Kirk is a Republican senator.Trump knows Rubio, though. And it must infuriate him that Rubio is being negative about him again-- even if he's finally stopped making fun of Trump's deformed penis.
Lucky I didn't throw away any of my Marco Rubio art. Little Marco knows he can't get a good job in the real world so he's flip-flopped on his promises to move away from the taxpayers' trough get out of politics. Did anyone ever seriously think he wouldn't run again after Trump drove him out of the presidential primary with his tale between his legs?
As we mentioned yesterday, you'd have to be terribly naive to imagine Rubio wasn't running for reelection. David Jolly's exit from Florida's U.S. Senate primary is just another indication that it's a done deal.

Marco Rubio's political base is Miami Dade. In fact, when Trump swept Florida in the primary, Miami-Dade was the only county Rubio won. At least there they seemed to take Rubio's warning seriously that Trump is a dangerous con man unfit to be anywhere near the nuclear button. Trump, however, took Florida with 1,077,221 votes (45.7%) to Rubio's piss-poor 636,653 (27.0%) and Ted Cruz's 403,640 (17.1%).
It's not like all of his Republican rivals haven't mentioned over the course of the primary campaign that Trump is a con man. They did. But now, whether tribally or opportunistically, most of them want to force that con man onto the country. Is it hard for you to imagine that the majority of Republican political leaders would put their party first and the country last?
